Photo of the week: Miss Olga Corkill

Today’s photograph shows Miss Olga Corkill in the Hawera-based photographic studio of Brandon Haughton – Photographic Artist, Hawera. This photo was taken 1922-1926 when Brandon Haughton was operating his studio in Union St, Hawera. He had taken over the old established business of Arthur Gungall.

Olga Mary Corkill (1910 -1991) was the daughter of Amelia Adelaide (nee Sattler) and (Arthur) Victor Corkill. They are all buried in Manaia Cemetery. The museum holds a collection of photographs relating to the Corkill and Sattler families.

  1. Olga was my Great Aunty on my mothers side. She and her Brother Vic were passionate about Camellia growing and members of the local Camellia society.
