Today’s photograph is of High Street in Hawera looking south towards the water tower. In the foreground is R. E. Tingey & Co Ltd Decorators shop and on the road horse and cart are competing with the new automobile, probably taken late 1910’s or early 1920’s. The photographer was Frederick George Radcliffe (15 November 1863 – 14 January 1923), a New Zealand farmer and travel photographer.
