Forget the “bring back Buck” campaign; I want a “bring back blackboards” campaign! We have an old school blackboard on the wall in the education room and kids just love it. There’s something irresistible about chalk and a blackboard. Sure, we get a lot of hearts and kid’s initials, but we also see animals, the mountain, chemistry (not sure who the science fanatic is…) and all the things kids are interested in. It’s a great insight into their world and a chance to connect with them on common ground. Any chance to get chatting and find a thread that leads to an interest in history has got to be worth pursuing. Long live the blackboard!
