All the bones

Do you ever think about bones? I do; when I did my art degree I spent some time photographing bones in our garden, and exploring the shadows they make. Our cat thought the whole process was just for her entertainment.
What do a bunch of old bones have to do with the museum? You’d be surprised! We recently updated the Education Room and currently have some lovely old bones on display for the children to look at. You’d be amazed how many kids have never seen animal bones, and are fascinated by the tiny possum skull.
Seeing the bones makes me think about how our museum, small as it is, is connected to museums worldwide and the amazing array of items they collect and preserve, bones included. It’s great that even somewhere relatively isolated such as Patea can feel that connectedness. Cath
